Description
Located in Ampuis, the Ogier family is well-established and has been growing and selling grapes in the Northern Rhône for many years (mainly to Guigal & Chapoutier) before Michel Ogier began vinifying his own grapes in 1987. Stéphane joined the family estate in 1997, working alongside his father Michel, before taking the reins in 2005. Since then, he has established himself as one of the great names in the Rhône, particularly around his single-site Syrah in his hometown of Côte Rôtie.
Stéphane studied in Beaune and brings this Burgundian approach to his wines from the region and its terroirs. He works with multiple lieux-dits, both inside and outside the appellation, vinifying each one separately and using oak moderately to allow the nuances of each style to show. He is widely recognized as the face of the new generation of the Northern Rhône, and he continues to grow stronger and stronger!
"The Time Has Come" (in French, "the moment has arrived") comes from vineyards located near the city of Visan in the southern Rhône, all around 20 years old. The blend of grapes (60% Grenache Blanc, 20% Roussanne, and Marsanne, Viognier, Bourboulenc, and Clairette all at 5%) gives the wine a range of aromas and flavors.
